Center on Community Development > Roosevelt Home > Cornell > Community Development
The mission of the Center on Community Development is to ensure that strong communities are built and sustained. Communities are the building blocks of a civil society and for many, they often take the place of a strong and supportive family. No one should be left out and denied basic resources such as affordable housing, a good education, and effective healthcare.
Currently, the members of our group are most interested in providing strong after-school programs, ensuring that children are experiencing a rich, multicultural education, and developing a more effective training system to those who wish to work with underserved communities. One of our members is also developing a national education initiative, "Every Child Right on Track". We also understand the value and importance of hands-on experiences, and many of our members have done social justice work in Ithaca, NYC, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ecuador that will complement our research and writing.
